Running, Grief and Mental Health
Here at Uphill Struggles we will keep on banging the drum about how running helps with positive mental health, especially in these unprecedented times. Due to lockdown many people are feeling isolated and alone, exercise is one escape that can be a release where we can forget about our troubles.
Unfortunately, like many others, I have personally had to deal with grief during this time. The death of my nan was hard, being that we could not visit her in hospital. I firmly believe that had COVID19 not been around and we could have visited her in hospital she may have pulled through.
Running has got me through many stresses and strains in life and will continue to do so. Although I recently took a lump out of my knee through running and will have a scar on my knee for the rest of my life, running has often been the cure for scars you can't see on the inside and so its worth it! The scar will always be a part of me and who I am.
To celebrate my nan's life and for everyone else who has a story of grief (which nearly all of us do!) we are releasing two new tees today. For each of these tees that are sold we will donate £5.00 to Cancer Research UK. Not only do we hope that the donation will do good, we also hope by wearing the tee it will get everyone in the running mood, and help anyone who is going through a loss of family or friends.
Thanks for listening and Happy Running!
My nan who unfortunately passed away earlier this year.
